My next Druidawn class starts on February 5th. Druidawn is an RPG like DnD but with a writing element.
Do you have a reluctant writer? Do you have an excited writer but they need inspiration?
I have an answer that is SO much fun (yes, I love my job!). I get to play and laugh and say ridiculous things that encourage kids to WANT to write. Kids get to laugh and play and say RIDICULOUS things that lead to wanting to write!
What IS this magic?
It's called Druidawn. It is an RPG (role playing game) that is similar to one you would be familiar with, Dungeons and Dragons. Druidawn is like D&D BUT with a creative writing element.
My beginner class is ages 8-18, most kids are ages 9-12.
Some of my learners have RPG experience but most do not.
The beginner Druidawn class leads into a plethora of adventures.
Elves, dragons, magic, Druids, mythical creatures, bows with enchanted arrows, potions and fun!
Druidawn® is a cooperative, interactive role playing game that uses creative writing and problem solving to overcome obstacles in a group setting.

Monday is the first day of my next Druidawn beginner class. There are currently 2 spots available.
There are 4 currently signed up, ages 10 and 11.
Druidawn is like Dungeons and Dragons but it is cooperative and has a creative writing element. Kids don't have to write, they will want to write!
This is a super engaging, fun adventure class that is perfect for reluctant writers and kids that need a reason to write!
The beginner class introduces the world of Druidawn and covers 10 years of their character's lives as they become Knights of Druidawn.

For those of you that follow Ian's Pokemon career, or those who haven't heard about this before, here is info about the world tournament which begins tomorrow. This will be streamed. They focus on the master division and kids (juniors/seniors) won't be streamed until the final day with the final top 2. One of the great things about watching stream is the commentators explaining what is happening.

Tomorrow is Day 1 of this year's Pokemon World tournament. 12 years ago it was in Hawaii and Ian won 2nd place as a junior. This year it is in Hawaii again and he has big hopes!
Ian has been there all week, hanging out with friends, doing touristy things, practicing and getting used to the time zone.
My belly just flip flopped with excitement for him!
This year the tournament style is set up differently.
